A Bold Kitchen Transformation on a Budget
Kitchen resurfacing doesn't have to mean playing it safe.
When Daniel decided to update his Palm Beach townhouse, he already had a clear vision for the finished space. The space was small, his budget tight and he needed the work done quickly as he had guests visiting in the near future.
By resurfacing the existing cabinetry and pairing it with a new stone benchtop, he achieved a completely different look while avoiding the expense and disruption of or expense of a full renovation.

Project Snapshot
Location: Palm Beach, Gold Coast
Clients: Daniel
Service: Kitchen cabinet resurfacing
Timeline: 3 days

The Goal
Daniel was working within a tight budget and a relatively short timeframe.
He was expecting visitors soon after the project was scheduled and wanted the kitchen completed before they arrived. Because the existing layout worked well, replacing the cabinetry simply wasn't necessary.
Instead, he wanted to invest his budget where it would make the biggest visual difference while still achieving a high-end finish.
A standout finish
The standout feature of this project is undoubtedly the cabinetry colour.
Rather than choosing a traditional white or neutral finish, Daniel selected a bold olive green that completely transformed the feel of the kitchen.
Combined with a new stone benchtop, the colour created a contemporary look that reflected exactly what he had envisioned.

Unforseen Challenges
During preparation, we uncovered water damage along the bottom of several cabinet doors. Before any resurfacing began, we repaired the affected areas to ensure the finished result was as durable as it was beautiful.
To further personalise the space, we suggested installing a demi-round feature panel on the living room side of the kitchen island. It was a simple addition that helped give the kitchen a more custom, designer feel.
Making Everyday Life Work
Because the townhouse remained occupied throughout the project, Daniel and his family simply adjusted their routine rather than moving out.
Before we started, they created a temporary kitchen using their fridge, kettle, drinks and a few everyday essentials so breakfast and snacks could continue as normal. Dinner became a good excuse to eat out over the three-day project.
Space was limited throughout the townhouse, so careful planning was also needed to safely separate the work area while ensuring their cat remained secure in another room during the day.
With access to the property while the owners were at work, we were able to complete the resurfacing efficiently while minimising disruption to their daily routine.
The Results?
The finished kitchen feels completely different. It's no longer a stock-standard kitchen that every other townhouse in the complex has.
The bold cabinetry colour, premium finish and new benchtop work together to create a kitchen that feels modern, distinctive and far more expensive than the project actually cost.
Daniel was particularly impressed by the level of preparation involved before spraying even began, along with the quality of the finish and the attention to detail throughout the project.
As he shared afterwards:
"Simon was professional, communicated well from the start and even helped coordinate other tradies. He went above and beyond with a feature panel that was his idea. A great economical kitchen renovation!"
Projects like this show that kitchen resurfacing isn't just about changing colour. It's about making smart improvements, repairing what's worth saving and helping homeowners achieve the best possible result within their budget.
