A Smart Pre-Sale Refresh Without the Renovation Price Tag
When you're preparing a property for sale, every improvement needs to make financial sense.
For Denise, the goal wasn't to completely renovate the home. Instead, she wanted to modernise the spaces buyers notice most while staying within budget and keeping the project on schedule.
Kitchen and laundry resurfacing offered the perfect solution, transforming tired finishes into fresh, contemporary spaces without the cost and disruption of replacing them.

Project Snapshot
Location: Labrador, Gold Coast
Clients: Denise
Service: Kitchen cabinet and benchtop resurfacing, laundry resurfacing.
Timeline: 4 days, booked for end of tenancy for ease of renovations prior to sale.

The Challenge
After tenants moved out, Denise had a short window to prepare the property before it went on the market.
The kitchen still functioned well, but the dated very light blue cabinetry, a patterned backsplash and tired benchtops made the space feel a bit drab.
There were also damaged and stained surfaces that needed attention before prospective buyers began inspecting the home. Because once they start looking for something 'wrong' they keep finding things they'd need to spend money on.
Rather than invest heavily in a complete renovation, Denise wanted a modern finish that would maximise buyer appeal while keeping costs under control.
The Solution
We resurfaced the kitchen cabinetry, benchtops and splashback tiles, completely changing the appearance of the space without replacing the existing cabinetry.
During discussions about the project, we also recommended resurfacing the laundry. Updating both rooms created a much more consistent feel throughout the home and gave buyers the impression of a more cohesive renovation.
By resurfacing rather than replacing, Denise achieved a fresh, modern finish while avoiding unnecessary demolition and keeping the project comfortably within budget.

Working to a Timeline
Timing was one of the biggest priorities for this project. Denise had planned well in advance, arranging for the resurfacing work to begin shortly after the tenants vacated the property.
Because the house was already vacant and undergoing other improvements, access was straightforward and allowed us to complete the resurfacing efficiently within the agreed timeframe.
Meeting the scheduled dates meant the remaining trades could stay on track and the property could be listed without unnecessary delays.
The Results
The outdated kitchen was transformed into a bright space that immediately lifted the presentation of the property. Extending the resurfacing into the laundry created consistency throughout the home while adding further value for potential buyers.
Denise was especially pleased with both the finished result and our commitment to delivering the highest standard of workmanship throughout the project.
"I wasn't sure about resurfacing at first, but after seeing the finished product, Simon breathed new life into my old kitchen. The result was amazing and it looks so fresh and new. He went above and beyond what he needed to do. Definitely worth it and it doesn't take very long from start to finish."
Preparing a home for sale doesn't always require a full renovation. Sometimes, resurfacing the spaces buyers notice first is enough to completely change their impression of a property while keeping your renovation budget under control.
