A Professional Finish After a DIY Bathroom Update Fell Short

Not every DIY project turns out the way you hope.

For Trudi, it started with painting a strip of feature tiles in her bathroom herself. Unfortunately, the finish wasn't what she had envisioned. Between the DIY fail and chips in both the fibreglass bathtub and vanity top, the bathroom needed an expert to refresh the different surfaces to the quality Trudi wanted.

Rather than commit to the cost of a complete bathroom renovation, professional resurfacing provided a practical, affordable solution that restored the existing surfaces and delivered the fresh, modern finish she was looking for.

Before: Trudi knew the chipped surfaces were beyond a DIY repair

The Challenge

Trudi wanted to improve the appearance of her bathroom without taking on the expense of a full renovation.

After attempting to paint the feature wall tiles herself, she wasn't happy with the result. At the same time, both the fibreglass bathtub and vanity top had accumulated chips and damage over the years that made the bathroom feel worn.

With limited time and a desire to avoid unnecessary costs, resurfacing offered a much more practical alternative than replacing perfectly functional fixtures.

The Solution

Our first step was removing the previous coating from the feature tiles before professionally resurfacing them to create a smooth, consistent finish.

We also repaired the chips and damage in the fibreglass bathtub and vanity top before applying our commercial-grade resurfacing system.

By restoring the existing surfaces instead of replacing them, we were able to completely refresh the appearance of the bathroom while keeping the project fast and cost-effective.

Working with an Apartment

Because this project was completed in an apartment, planning ahead was an important part of the process.

Before work began, the required insurance information and project details were provided to the building management to meet the strata requirements.

As the resurfacing itself was completed in a single day, disruption to the homeowner was minimal.

One thing Trudi particularly appreciated was the care we took to minimise her exposure to fumes throughout the project. We use professional ventilation systems and carefully manage the work area to create a safer environment for both our team and our clients.

The Results

The professionally resurfaced feature wall now blends seamlessly with the rest of the space, while the repaired bathtub and vanity top look fresh, clean and ready for years of everyday use.

Instead of replacing expensive fixtures, Trudi achieved the updated bathroom she wanted in just one day.

"Fantastic job! I couldn't afford a full bathroom renovation but was very happy with the resurfacing of my bath and vanity top. The transformation is amazing and the finish looks so fresh. Ricki and Simon were both very professional and mindful of not just their health and safety but mine too. They were respectful of my unit, and the whole process was incredibly thorough."

Bathroom resurfacing is an ideal solution when your fixtures are still functional but no longer look their best. Whether it's repairing damage, correcting a previous DIY attempt or simply modernising your bathroom, resurfacing can deliver impressive results without the cost of replacement.
